Chucklehead Overview
Chucklehead helped generate and define the independent live hip-hop and funk scene of the ’90s, creating timeless grooves and leaving behind a legacy of torn roofs and wet floors. Even at the apex of grunge, Chucklehead was forging a new path in funk, influencing other bands while foreshadowing much of the mainstream popular music that has dominated the airwaves since.
Chucklehead recorded three albums (Big Wet Kiss, Fuzz, Belly Up), selling over 45,000 copies, and placed seven songs in three major motion pictures (Sleep With Me, Love & Sex, Some Girl). They toured the US non-stop, playing for over half a million people, and had the honor of opening for such legends as KRS-One, The Fugees, and Bob Dylan. The group won four Boston Music Awards, six Boston Phoenix Awards, and received critical acclaim from MTV, The Village Voice, Details, andBillboard Magazine.
Since 2004, live recordings of Chucklehead have been downloaded 400,000 times from archive.org. For a full history of the band visit our Wikipedia page.
